Past High School Film Competition Finalist Awarded Scholarship!

Evan Trout, 2010 Heartland High School Film Competition Finalist

Evan Trout, one of the 2010 Heartland High School Film Competition winners with his film Lady and the Champ, is graduating this year and heading to the International Academy of Film and Television in the Philippines.

Trout was awarded the IAFT-J. Everett Light Career Center Filmmaking Scholarship this spring. Kacy Andrews, the chief executive officer at IAFT, alum of the J. Everett Light Career Center offered this incredible opportunity for a scholarship to Trout’s Animation and Film Production class at the career center. This is the second year for the scholarship.

Trout will be abroad for twelve months in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines studying the Diploma Program in Filmmaking. There is a film studio located next to the school called Bigfoot Entertainment where students can collaborate with the studio on some projects. There are four films produced by each student and a final thesis film produced at the end of the year.

We at Heartland are ecstatic for Evan and this amazing opportunity. We will be paying close attention to Evan’s filmmaking career over the next year!
