Heartland Film Honors “If Beale Street Could Talk” with Truly Moving Picture Award

Set in early 1970s Harlem, “If Beale Street Could Talk” follows Tish, an expecting mother who is racing to prove her fiancé’s innocence. Her soon-to-be husband, Alonzo, was arrested for a crime he did not commit, putting a halt to their planned future. As they attempt to prove his innocence, Tish and Alonzo rely on love, trust and respect to endure this hard time.

Director, Barry Jenkins, excellently portrays this poetic, romantic story in an unforgiving and racially biased world.

Directed by Academy Award®-winner Barry Jenkins, “If Beale Street Could Talk” stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James and three-time Emmy Award®-winner Regina King. Screenplay written by Barry Jenkins based on the book by James Baldwin.

If Beale Street Could Talk” hits theaters December 25, 2018.
