Bosque de Niebla (Cloud Forest)
The people of a small community in Veracruz are the guardians of one of the ecosystems facing the most risk in the country: the cloud forest. In an effort to build a simpler and more sustainable life, they are working to redesign their own culture: needs, food, education, and their relationship with nature.

Mónica Álvarez Franco is the director and screenwriter and Carlos Sosa is the producer of “Bosque de Niebla.” Mónica got started in documentaries because her parents were activists and she found it was a meaningful way to tell stories.

The idea for this film first came to Mónica because she wanted to show the world a different way of living and to also show her daughter there are other ways to live.

In this community, families work and make decisions together while taking care of the 300 acres of land and teaching the children how to respect the environment. Mónica shared that her most memorable moment while working on this film, was having the opportunity to live in the community for a while and raise her daughter there.
