Six Academy Award Wins for Heartland Film Titles

The 87th Annual Academy Awards® took place on Sunday, Feb. 22, and six films honored by Heartland Film through the Heartland Film Festival or Truly Moving Picture Award took home the gold. Winners include:

Short Film, Live Action

2014 Heartland Film Festival Official Selection, Narrative Short The Phone Call  won best live action short film! Director Mat Kirkby and Writer James Lucas accepted the award.

Actor in a Leading Role

Eddie Redmayne, who portrayed the brilliant Stephen Hawking in Truly Moving Picture Award winner The Theory of Everything, won best actor in a leading role.

Actress in a Supporting Role

Patricia Arquette, who portrayed Olivia Evans in Truly Moving Picture Award winner Boyhood, won best actress in a supporting role.

Adapted Screenplay

Graham Moore’s screenplay for Truly Moving Picture Award Winner / 2014 Heartland Film Festival Special Presentation The Imitation Game, won for best adapted screenplay.

Alan Robert Murray and Bub Asman’s sound editing in Truly Moving Picture Award winner American Sniper won for best sound editing.

The Heartland Film Festival has earned the special designation of being a qualifying festival for the Annual Academy Awards® within the Short Films category. This means that the winner of the Grand Prize for Best Narrative Short Film will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.
