Heartland Film Festival Summer Rewind – June 15-17, 2016

Heartland Film Festival Summer Rewind showcases some of the best Heartland Film Festival movies of the past in an abbreviated, three-day mini-festival format, giving moviegoers an opportunity to experience great independent film in the historic Fountain Square cultural district.

The Heartland Basile Theatre and Wheeler Arts Community are easily accessible by foot, which makes it easy to rotate between venues throughout the mini-festival!

Please plan to park on the street (it’s FREE!), in The Murphy Arts Building parking lot, in front of Family Dollar, or in front of the police station. Please do not park in the PNC lot or Bud’s Supermarket parking lot, as doing so will put you at risk of being towed.


La Margarita | The Murphy Arts Building

Sneak out for a margarita and spicy tacos at La Margarita, located in the same building as the Heartland Basile Theatre, between screenings at Summer Rewind. Be sure to enjoy the summer evening by sitting at the outdoor patio facing the Cultural Trail. Open until 10 p.m. weeknights and 11 p.m. on weekends. Learn more

Stop into Pure Eatery for a delicious sandwich, wrap or appetizer made with homemade, fresh and local ingredients. Open until 3 a.m. every night. Learn more

Red Lion Grog House | The Murphy Arts Building

Stop into the Red Lion for a pint of local beer or Guinness and some fried pickle chips in this upscale English-style restaurant. Open until 11 p.m. on weeknights and 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Learn more

The Rooftop Garden | Fountain Square Theatre Building

Delight in a glass of wine and appetizers while enjoying a view of the Indianapolis skyline on the roof of the Fountain Square Theatre Building. Open on Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday nights from 6-11 p.m. (weather permitting). Learn more

Swing by the Thunderbird for Southern-inspired food and a specialty cocktail like the “1st Time French Kisser.” Be sure to check out art work by Kipp Normand, local artist and subject of the 2012 Heartland Film Festival Award-winning documentary short film of the same name. If you are looking for something extra special, plan to eat dinner at Bluebeard located a few blocks away from the Heartland Film offices. The menu changes daily and is prepared with fresh local ingredients. Open for dinner service until 11 p.m. Monday – Saturday.
